Flu Remedies!

Hey Lovelies, I hope all is well. There’s been a case of the flu goin’ around my home so I thought I’d share some things I’ve been doing to get rid of it.

Get a Salt Lamp!

Salt lamps are great for cleansing the air in our homes. They take in and trap mold and other yucky allergens. The heated salt releases negative ions back into the air which reduce radiation and airborne infection. Read more about these awesome lamps here.

Make some homemade tea!

Homemade anything is always best, especially when it comes to colds and flu. Drink this at the first sign of the flu or as a prevention.

  • 2-3 slices of ginger root with skin still on
  • 1 clove chopped garlic
  • 1 slice of lemon
  • 1 slice of lime

Place in a pot of water and wait till it boils. Turn the heat down to 5 or 4 and simmer for 20 minutes. You can add this concoction with other tea or honey for taste. You can also add in cayenne pepper to help sweat out the flu.

Echinacea

This stuff is amazing! I combined it with the homemade tea and raw honey. You can find the dried echinacea leaves in local herbal stores or the ones already in tea bags in most stores. I picked this particular one up in my local herbal store. I was recommended Echinacea with Goldenseal which is more powerful than echinacea alone but they didn’t have any so I got this instead.

UPDATE: My husband had the flu pretty badly. I decided to make this tea on the third day he was sick and after doing this, he was back to work 2 days later. I was about to catch it too so I made the tea and within 2 days all symptoms were gone!
